My Art is Inspired by
Love & Kindness
My early paintings were created as gifts for family and friends. Each was tailored to a specific occasion such as the birth of a grandchild, a move to a new home, or the simple knowledge that it would bring comfort or delight. Love and kindness were the common themes. They continue to inspire me today.

My Story
Art and colour inspired me from a very early age but I was encouraged to follow a more academic path through my school education.
I graduated in English and History and initially pursued a career in museum exhibition design. Due to limited opportunities, however, I was forced to move into industry and worked in research and marketing.
Art and design were never far from my mind however and after taking a career break to bring up my family, I returned to University to study Garden and Interior Design, eventually setting up my own design business.
I took early retirement when my dear brother developed a terminal illness and spent time caring for him in his last days. My personal grief helped me to find my way back to fine art. I began taking lessons with Gillian Park at the Art Academy and Joan Lawson at Robinwood Art School - both incredibly inspiring teachers.
Since then I have been developing my work alone, studying short courses at the Glasgow School of Art and Higham Hall in my native Cumbria. In 2023 I was admitted to Ayr Sketch Club as an artist member. I continue to develop my skills and aim to produce art for my own solace and the pleasure of others.
“If I could have my career again, fine art would be my main focus.”
